Caribbean Pools & Landscape is Family and Veteran-Owned. We specialize in designing and building custom concrete swimming pools, spas (also known as "Gunite") and landscaping in the Metro New Orleans, and Lafayette regions of south Louisiana.
Discover Why Homeowners Trust Our Pool Building Process.
Stage 2: Plumbing & Electrical
At this stage, the piping and wiring necessary to operate the pool must be put into place while there is access. This may require additional surface trenching to the pool equipment enclosure or to power and water connections. At this point, the heater, filter, and any other add-ons will be installed.
Our plumbing crew will install all circulating lines and filtration equipment.
Electrical work and grounding of the pool equipment is done by a licensed electrician according to the National Electric Code and local government requirements. An inspection of the electrical system will be conducted by a building inspector and is required before pouring the deck around the pool.
Stage 4: Start Up
As soon as the water reaches mid-point of the waterline tile we will start up the pool mechanical systems to ensure they are functional, then make any adjustments before turning the operation over to the homeowner or their pool care company.
Stage 1: Pool Shell
Layout and Excavation - A trained professional will begin by staking out the shape of your pool, inspect the layout and confirm the measurements and design. A qualified excavator will begin digging out the pool depths and carving the shape into the soil.
Steel - The shell of your pool depends on steel reinforcement bar to be strong enough to hold water and prevent cracking under the expansion and contraction of the surrounding soil. A steel rebar grid is formed into the outline of your pool and serves as a frame for the concrete and ensures the pool will maintain its shape and strength for greatest durability.
Gunite - is a mixture of cement and sand that is sprayed over the rebar basket and builds up within it until the pool walls reach the proper thickness. This becomes the bond beam which may be over a foot thick. Once gunite is in place the surface of the shell is hand finished.

Stage 3: Masonry
Tile and coping - Waterline tile will be installed around the top edge of the pool shell. It is set relative to the designated water level when the pool is full. Coping is the term used to identify the stone or concrete material used to cap the pool shell wall.
Decking - Pool decking may be poured concrete with special finishes which involve building forms that set the edges of paving and the cantilevered edge of the pool. If the deck is to receive tile or stone veneer, the slab will be set lower so that the addition of veneer brings it up to finish grade. With both techniques, this is when expansion joints and trench drains are set to ensure proper drainage.
Plaster - The main factor in selecting a plaster finish is actually deciding what watercolor you desire. Once all the materials are cured, then it's time to plaster the pool. The plaster not only gives the pool it's water retention ability but also provides a finished look and feel. Then the pool is filled with a garden hose. It is extremely crucial that you do not turn off the water for any length of time until it has reached the mid-point of the waterline tile. If it is stopped before that point, it will leave a ring in the plaster which is almost impossible to remove.
Stage 4: Start Up
As soon as the water reaches mid-point of the waterline tile we will start up the pool mechanical systems to ensure they are functional, then make any adjustments before turning the operation over to the homeowner or their pool care company.
Stage 5: Final Touches
If your pool includes special features, landscaping, or any additional unfinished work we will work with you to create a punch list for these items and they will receive our prompt attention.

I’ve had a great experience with this pool company. Taylor and his team accommodated our custom wishes and offered helpful suggestions. Construction from 3D drawing to plaster took just over a month! A few minor issues with pavers and the hot tub were quickly fixed. The chemical and cleaning service keeps our pool ready for action—especially with 3 small boys! Highly recommend.
